Basic gateway functionality consists of two major features:
The gateway software encompasses various auxiliary functions to support the core features mentioned above, such as configuring a cellular modem or synchronizing the system clock with an NTP server.
Additionally, the gateway software often provides functionalities beyond the basic edge capabilities e.g. writing parameters to the control system and offering an MQTT broker for project-specific purposes within the edge environment.
Regatta® device management allows managing gateways and subdevices.
In a typical Regatta® IoT setup a gateway is connected to some kind of a machine control system unit. The type of the control system may greatly vary, as well as the connection mechanism used to interact with it (e.g. Modbus, CAN bus, serial port). Additionally there may be other computer-like devices connected to the gateway (e.g. WiFi router, display unit). We use a common term subdevice for all such devices that can be viewed and managed by the Regatta@ Device management via the gateway.
Regatta® Device management UI allows tracking subdevices, their software versions and managing available over-the-air (OTA) installation packages. It allows starting and monitoring an update job. The gateway software responsibilities are:
Signals are vital part of Regatta Insights. They are used to store and visualize data coming from assets.
Signals can have multiple limits set to them for visualization and event generation purposes. By setting a minimum and maximum value of a signal the Regatta Insights is able to show the expected range of the signal value which it should be operating. Minimum and maximum values are used with progress bar type of visualizations withing Insights. When signal has at least one of alarm and warning limits set (either high or low limit), events are generated each time when signal value is exceeded. These limits can be also used in widgets to visualize what are expected limits of the signal values.
Each asset on the field has a gateway device inside them and Regatta Insights’ Device Management is just the right tool for managing and remote updating those. Designed to be used by customer technicians and service personnel.
OTA Update enables secure, remote firmware and software updates for connected devices directly through the platform — without requiring physical access to the equipment. This capability ensures that device fleets remain secure, up-to-date, and aligned with evolving product functionality.
Open a secure remote access to a gateway device with only few clicks from Regatta Insights without any extra authentication steps. With Regatta Connect desktop application customer can create a network tunnel between the gateway device and their desktop computer. This tunnel can be used to open e.g. SSH terminal to the gateway device.
Identity and access management of Regatta Insights is built upon the open source project called Keycloak. With Keycloak we can provide strong authentication, user and permission management and integration with existing user directories such as Microsoft Entra ID (formerly known as Azure AD). By using a well-tested and frequently updated service we can ensure that user and customer information is safe.
Entities can be structured into hierarchies to group them based on countries, sites and/or customers where they are. Hierarchies in Regatta Insights can be created automatically based on customer requirements and/or edited by the customer itself. With hierarchies defining what fleets and assets a user can see comes a possibility allowing the customer to show only some assets to their customer.
With dashboards customer can customize how data is shown for their assets in Regatta Insights. With all kinds of built-in widgets data can be visualized in a rich way may that be a line chart or a label that changes color based on data. Widgets on dashboard update their contents periodically to show (near) real-time data of the asset.
Alongside signal data, assets can have textual events describing what’s going on. An event could be a notification telling asset owner that warranty period is about to end, a warning telling that asset is being possibly misused or an alert telling that oil temperature has exceeded certain limit. With events users may follow what is happening with the asset or on whole fleet of assets.
Regatta Insights isn’t only about signal data and events from the asset. Sometimes it’s necessary to store documents such as manuals and EV-machine passports of the asset and whole fleets in one place. These files can be shared with the end customer or only be for internal use.
Regatta Insights has support for generating PDF files from any dashboard and from service book or custom reports. If some information isn’t possible to show on a dashboard or a official layout needs to be used it’s possible to create totally customized PDF export. Combined with scheduled reports PDF files can be automatically generated and send to users via email.
Knowing where the asset is and what route it has taken maybe important to track how the asset has been used. Regatta Insights can visualize asset’s location on a map in real time with a drawn path of it’s movement history. Our map widget isn’t limited to show only one asset but can group and visualize fleets of assets to show the customer where their assets are currently at.
PDF exports of dashboards and custom built reports can scheduled to be sent via email to recipients. Reports can be configured to be send daily, weekly or monthly.
Administators can define translations to names and titles of certain objects such as dashboards, signals and widgets. This feature is designed for end users who do not have sufficient knowledge of English allowing them to better understand data they see in Regatta Insights. For example a widget with a title of “Load control status“ it can be translated to Finnish “Kuorman hallinnan tila“ and users using Finnish language will then see the translated title instead of original English version.
Get notifications of certain events or changes in issues from your asset.
Keeping track of different kinds of issues with the asset is possible with Regatta Insights. Issue can consist of simple report by asset owner or operator, request for a service or a multi-stage form for warranty claim.
See an overview of our fleet, manage your fleet and drill into asset specific insights.
User can define, manage, and complete services for assets within a configurable service management system. The workflow consists of several steps, each allowing the customer to design service processes that fit their specific needs.
Remote Monitoring is designed to maximize fleet availability and enhance equipment operations.
It provides real-time monitoring of the connected fleet, issuing critical alerts categorized by urgency for immediate action. Daily, weekly, and monthly reports ensure clear communication with the site team, keeping everyone well-informed about the fleet’s status and necessary actions.
Recommendations based on analyzed data can be tailored to improve fleet performance.
These insights help preempt potential issues and optimize maintenance schedules.
